You’re So Fly: Sarah Turner

Sarah joins Flywheel as part of The Cabarrus Chamber of Commerce. She serves as the Director of Membership Development and Engagement. Sarah recently spoke at our monthly Community Day. Learn more about her story:

What was your path to the Chamber?
For two years before working at The Chamber, I helped manage a venue (The Manor at Serenade Farm) in Concord. We were members of The Chamber, and I got to know Alison and Jess as we attended many of the networking events

What perspectives or experiences are you excited to bring to this role?
I love working with people and learning about their passions. It has been fun working primarily with small business owners and learning about how they came into their businesses.

During Community Day, you spoke about curiosity– how does your natural curiosity serve as an asset to your current position?
I love learning what makes people come alive. I think most of us have a desire to be seen and heard. So often we rush from one thing to another, so I like to slow down and learn why these business owners got involved in their particular business. So many of them have such unique stories, and I LOVE a good human interest story.

What is something beneficial that your curiosity has uncovered for you personally? What are you most curious about right now?
Having lived in Charlotte since 2002, I am incredibly curious about Cabarrus County. I have absolutely fallen in love with downtown Concord and think it’s the sweetest little town.

On a personal note, I will add that the last three years have brought tremendous change into every area of my life. So, I am very curious these days about who Sarah is in 2026.
It’s been a fun time of discovery and rediscovery

When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your time?
I LOVE the Whitewater Center. My favorite Saturday begins with yoga there, followed by whitewater rafting. I’m also an addict of Burn Bootcamp.
